Year 10 and 11 Visual Arts students had the opportunity for some inside knowledge on the inspiration that drives local artist Janelle Peterson to create her beautiful sculptures. Janelle brought in many samples of her sculpture and ceramic wares and was open to sharing her extensive knowledge of art-making and earning a living from it. Throughout the talk, Janelle described art-making as a process of creativity and development and showed students innovative ways to recycle embellishing techniques using plastic and plaster moulds from children’s toys and readily available objects. Several students have since put some of Janelle’s techniques into practice as they complete their final artworks for assessment.
